Y'all....we are still here!! Rolling along.
We are 5 weeks in to homeschooling and I absolutely love it!! I'm honestly kicking myself for not making the jump sooner. I've realized we spent years, and thousands of dollars in testing, fighting for an IEP, individualized education, for Myles.....when if I had been brave enough years ago I could have been giving him that myself.
Live and learn. We are both loving it, though. Being able to learn about things and then go right out into the world and see things in real life has been very fun. Watching him learn, and seeing the amount of info he can churn through is pretty amazing.
Emma has begun Independent Studies. Our districts program has begun a Medical Pathways course, as well as a HOSA course which earns college credits. So while she's doing Independent Studies, she's getting a lot more hands on medical experience than what she was getting. She'll also get her own scrubs, which she's excited for. She takes high school classes till January, but then she switches to college classes. She has her credits to graduate already (she's a junior), but if we keep her in the school district, she can take college classes at our local community college for $1 per credit. So....it's worth the financial benefits to keep her in rather than graduate a year early. Plus she can knock out all her prerequisites and get started on the 2 year course for the field she's interested in.
Sophie is still at the high school and loving it. She's not the least bit interested in homeschooling or independent studies, which is totally fine. If she doesn't have a reason to, then there's no reason to. She's getting great grades, and doesn't have the anxiety issues that Emma has. She's loving her digital arts classes.
Brian and I are chugging along. Nothing exciting, so I wont bore you.
Here's what we've been up to....lots of creating fun field trips!
