Life

We all have stressful lives, yes?? I sometimes have a hard time posting because there is so much "real life" stuff going on that if I just post pretty pictures from the trail, I feel like I'm somehow being dishonest about what's really going on in our lives. Like it's all just one pretty picture.  It's not. Life is messy, and complicated, painful, stressful, heartbreaking, and sometimes just a huge struggle in general. There are family illnesses, challenging dynamics, chronic health issues with our children, anxiety issues, learning issues, so, so many appointments, kids applying to schools and the stress of waiting to hear if they are in or not and the host of issues associated with that...., choosing to medicate a child or not and the issues of either choice, IEP's, 504's, testing, results, fighting for your kid to get the right resources....the list goes on and on. Most of the time I can handle it all and do pretty darn good. Sometimes it all catches up to me and I crack.  I rarely (never) want to post about any of this because, as I started off saying, everyone has a load of things they are dealing with.  I have to remember that. Everyone is stressed, and everyone has things they are balancing, and everyone has their limit.  I guess I don't post as often when I'm at my limit because to give you the impression I'm a stay at home mom who has no worries and gets to go play on her beautiful mountain whenever she wants - well that's a huge false impression.  The truth is that I haven't been able to get up there as much as I want. As much as I need to. And when I have been able to, it is purely in an attempt to clear my head and re-center.
So, with all that said, here are a few pictures from a few days ago : )
I was so annoyed to see 3 cars here already, but I didn't see another human all morning, so it was all good.
Mud within the first 100 feet is a good thing.

Above, something had bedded down there, and below, a whopper of a nest. Maybe turkey?

  1. I'm like you and generally only post the fun sort of things, and worry a bit that people might get the wrong impression, but I think most people do that and that's fine. If I have a problem and am looking for solutions, people are generally keen to help. If I want to vent a bit, that's fine too. What drives me nuts are the vague posts ("vaguebooking") where the person posts something ("ARGH! That's the last time I'm letting you do that to me!!!") with absolutely no context - what are they expecting people to say? Totally bizarre, but I see it all the time and have learned to filter it out.

And then I see you pictures of mud(!) and all that green (!!!) and turkey beds (???) and it makes everything cool. I'm thrilled you get the odd opportunity to destress on the trails, and get to share the results with us! You are providing a great service! Hopefully we'll get to see you and the family at some race or other in the not to distant future!

"Vaguebooking"....that's a new to me phrase....although I've probably done it at some point in the past 6 years, lol.
The mountain is so, so green...and so, so muddy. My favorite source of stress relief!!
