Life Since Napa

(my left shift key is sticking, so i apologize for things not being capitalized that should be)

I know i have been not posting. It's been a combination of not wanting to do this post and just having a lot of real life stuff going on to deal with.

Monday morning after NVM bubba got the flu. He has never had the stomach flu, and after about 6 times, he remembered to not let go of his 'puke bucket"...it followed him everywhere, including the car. Over the next 2 weeks it went through all the kids. Brian and I also got sick, but not the stomach flu, just very weak, headaches, and fevers.

Last week on Tuesday Brian had a tire blow out on the freeway on the way to work. He was fine, the tire was not. On Wednesday he was home at noon with the news that he no longer had a job. By the weekend we had sold his car (that he just bought) and my Xterra is also for sale.

Needless to say, it has been a doosy of a month. My bum hip and his bum achilles, working out, and training runs are not even on my list of worries or concerns at the moment.....and thus the lack of posts. it is funny how focused we have been on Diablo 50k, and now its exactly one month away and not even in the back of my mind.

This, too, shall pass.

I'm aux pioneering this month, and we have our special assembly day this weekend, so I am trying to stay focused on that, and put my trust where it should be. I know we will move through this one day at a time, and we will be ok.

So there you have it, that is how the month has been going : )

  2. Well at least you know who is turning on the heat! Great that you are putting your trust where it should be. What a shocker about Brian's job. Was it totally out of the blue? Enjoy your assembly day!

  3. Hey! Im sorry you have so much going on. I wish there was more that I could do!...as far as the flu and vomiting, peach syrup. Buy a can of peaches with heavy syrup, when the vomiting starts give them a Tablespoon every 15 minutes and it will stop a lot sooner usually within 30minutes. My pediatrician recommended it. It changes the acid level in the belly. It really works!

  4. Sorry - I haven't really been online in ages so I haven't been keeping up to date reading blogs... Talk about roller coaster! So, when you guys were out in service on a Thursday, this was why Brian was available!?! Why didn't you say? It bites to be in that anxiety filled position- we know it well. Jehovah has pulled our feet out of the fire every time, as I'm sure He will for you guys too. Let us know if there's anything we can do - i.e., baby-sit so you two can have an quiet night? :)
