6 Weeks.....

That is how long I've been nailing every workout and getting every run in!!

I can say after the first 4 weeks, I could really notice a difference. My energy and really just my enthusiasm about life kicked up a few notches.  As always, whether you have 100 lbs to loose, or 20, or 5...the hardest part is just deciding you are done dinking (probably not a real word) around, and you are going to get it done. Once you actually start - meaning you are sticking to your nutrition and exercise plan- it really gets easier as you go. Once you start to feel better and see improvements and changes, both physically and mentally, it's not only easier, it's darn near addicting.

This has nothing to do with this post, but I love it, so it's here! This was the sunset one day last week when I was driving to BART to pick up Brian.
Which brings me to this past week, which was week 6. I powered through 8 workouts, and 5 runs....and felt like I could take on the world!! My runs felt great, both in power and speed. Don't get me wrong, I'm not fast...keeping to a 10 minute mile is great for me, keeping in mind I rarely run anything that is close to flat. Getting around the Reservoir in under 30 minutes is excellent for me right now. This past week I did it 3 times, all 3 times were after putting in double workouts.  I did 2 longer runs, and both times they felt amazing....that "I could do this forever", floating, flying, feeling the power with each push-off, feeling sort of run. One, actually 2, of those runs that you get maybe once every few months...and I had 2 in one week!! I'll take it.

It was pretty foggy a few days earlier in the week, this was on a run....

I love how things would appear out of the fog as I was running.
On the Plank side of things, I've been doubling up my workouts, either doing 2 Jillian Body Rev workouts, or one Jillian and one Insanity cardio-abs, or Jillian and one of my Ab workouts I have posted on my workout room wall. My favorite from my wall (I have about 10 different ones so I can pick one) right now is this-

50 crunches
30 leg lifts
50 Bicycle crunches
50 Squirms (love these, they fry my obliques)
25 Squats
30 Sumo Squats
50 jumping jacks
1 minute plank
 x3

I think the squats are just to give your abs a break from the super set they just endured, and they are a welcomed break! Anyhow, this is a super simple, nothing fancy, old school workout...but I tell ya, after 3 times through my abs are shot, especially if Jillian's workout also hit abs...then it's extra brutal.
Goodness knows my abs need some brutality, so it's all good!

In other news....since I'm feeling like a new me these days, I finally took a big chop....about a foot off my hair that is.  I've wanted to cut it for quite a while, but it also took about 3 years to grow out as long as it was...so it was a hard decision to make. I'm very emotional about my hair and have had emotional ties to my hair that go way back to the dreaded pixie cut hair I had as a child, which often led to my being mistaken for a boy...well, the hair combined with being a total tomboy....so cutting it is always a big deal. But I was brave!
In my workout room.....

With the hubby.....

and a few hours ago.....
I love it!! Obviously. Since I can't stop taking pictures of it : ) I can still get it in a ponytail, which is very important...but it's not cute in a ponytail, so I will not be living with it in a ponytail, which I had been doing. It forces me to actually do something with it, which is a good thing. I had this style for years before I grew it out, and since it's a cut I can do myself, it's a winner winner chicken dinner.

Hubby update - His toe is feeling better! It was very swollen for a few days. He ended up staying home Thursday and Friday. He has to walk about .75 mile in the city between BART and his office, and there's just no way he could have walked that far. So he stayed home and limped around enough that his strained calf was hurting, which eventually led to his hamstring hurting.  His stitches come out on Wednesday, and he'll go from there.

And with that, folks, I think you are all caught up!!
Wherever you are, hope you had a great weekend!

  2. Don't think you need to worry about anyone mistaking you for a boy, and besides, if they do it would obviously be their problem not yours. Say hello to hubby and kids from Uncle Randy
